Frequently Asked Questions about Cyprus Visa

What can I do if I make a mistake in my application?

It is important that you are very careful when you enter your personal details. You will have an opportunity to review all the details you have provided and can change the details at any time until you confirm all details as correct.

If you have made an error, it is important that you correct it before proceeding. Once you have confirmed the details, your credit card will be debited for the non-refundable service charge.

If you find out later that you have made a mistake, you will need to make a new application (and incur another service charge). We cannot change the details on an ETA once it has been issued.

Note: If your ETA details do not match your passport details you might experience delays when boarding your aircraft or be refused entry into Cyrus.

Do I need a plane ticket before purchasing an ETA?

No. You do not need to arrange your transportation into the country before applying for an ETA. Whether you are traveling by boat or plane, it’s okay to apply for your ETA anytime before or after your confirmed ticket.

How long does it take to obtain a Cyprus visa?

Typically, a visa takes anywhere from 2 days to 15+ days to process in the Cyprus Embassy/Consulate depending on the consulate that we need to send the application. . I am from a country whose citizens do not need a visa to enter Cyprus. Can I experience any problems at the border, while entering Cyprus?

  • You must meet certain requirements to enter Cyprus, even if you do not require a visa:
  • The purpose of your trip to Cyprus must be plausible and comprehensible.
  • Your passport should be valid for at least 3 months beyond your stay in Cyprus.
  • You must be able to finance your own living and travel costs.
  • You must hold a confirmed return flight, to prove that you are prepared to leave Cyprus before the allowed period of stay ends.
  • You must have travel health insurance for the whole duration of your stay in Cyprus.
  • You must not pose a threat to security or public order.

. What happens if my Cyprus visa application is rejected?

If your Cyprus visa application is rejected, you will be notified by your mission that your application has been unsuccessful. You will be informed of the grounds on which it was rejected and have one month to appeal the decision by writing to the Cypriot mission. Your application will then be reconsidered. You can also apply for a visa again if your circumstances are changed.

Can I include my family members on my ETA application?

Can my children (dependants) travel on my e-Visa?

Yes, kindly use his/her ID information alongside your personal information when completing the online application form. Please use your child’s (dependants) identification data requested at the time of completion when adding another traveler to your application. There are no exceptions regarding age.

What is the difference between a passport and a Cyprus visa?

A passport is an official government document that certifies one’s identity and citizenship.  The passport serves two purposes; to regain entry to the country of citizenship (i.e. the United States) and is a requirement by many countries to gain entry to the country you are visiting. A Cyprus visa is an official government document that temporarily authorizes you to be in the country.  Many countries require a visa to gain entry.  The Cyprus visa is in the form of a stamp/sticker IN the passport and is obtained from a Cyprus Embassy in Washington DC or consulates around the country.  We have staff spread around the country to hand carry your application for you and then overnight the passport back when it is completed.

What is a Cyprus Visa?

A Cyprus visa is a stamp or endorsement placed by officials of Cyprus on a passport that allows the bearer to visit Cyprus.  Visas are obtained from the Embassy or consulates of Cyprus for your visit.  “Visit” is further defined as the reason for entry, usually business, tourist, or transitory.  There are over 180+ countries that offer visas and literally thousands of different types of visas available based upon country, type of visit, and length of visit.

What is the total maximum duration for which I can stay in the country?

Your stay in the country cannot exceed three months in any half of the year.
